Project Title: Bumblebee Clock
My research aim is to use DNA editing to study the clock genes of the bumblebee Bombus terrestris and their effects on complex behaviors such as time-compensated sun-compass navigation, time sensing, social synchronization, and division of labour. The circadian clock is important for the social organization and foraging activities of social bees such as bumblebees. To meet this goal I am trying to generate clock mutants and use various behavioral analyses. I hope that my research and the technologies I am developing will help securing pollination services and reduce the loss of bumblebee populations due to exposure to agrochemicals and other stressors
